Free time and optional tours are available in Kanazawa and Takayama.  Customers can enjoy activities tailored to their interests.
Small numbers mean that restaurants, hotels, and shopping experiences not available to large tour groups can be enjoyed.
Akio is available to advise on use of cameras and structuring of photographs.

Kanazawa features:
Kenrokuen Gardens, one of the three most beautiful gardens in Japan.  The expansive gardens are laid out before Kanazawa Castle and are to be enjoyed by strolling around them.
Cherry blossoms and Autumn Leaves can be enjoyed in the gardens.  The gardens are particularly beautiful in the rain.  (The photograph is of Autumn Leaves in November 2017.  Weather:  rain/cloud)
A well preserved Samurai District in the centre of Kanazawa is another favourite.
Fresh fish and other produce line the narrow lanes of the Oumi Markets.  And the world famous architects, SANAA, designed the “21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art” (optional tour).
For those who love shopping, the centre of Kanazawa provides a myriad of opportunities.  Akio will provide two full days in Kanazawa in a relaxed manner, with the afternoon of the second day free to enjoy shopping.

Shirakawa Village, Hida Takayama
We leave Kanazawa on bus and travel to Hida Takayama via the World Heritage Village of Shirakawa.
Shirakawa is a village of collected and preserved large scale rural homes which have huge roof structures designed to protect against the heavy snowfall.  The view of the village is like looking out on a rural village from many hundreds of years ago.
Hida Takayama includes beautiful old street scapes, morning markets, the Takayama Jinya (Edo Period Administrative Quarters - Michelin 2 stars), and beautiful white walled warehouses.
We stay for 2 nights and the second afternoon is at your leisure or on an optional tour with Akio.  For example Shinhodaka Ropeway or a visit to a hot spring is available.
